This Is Our Moment
A Political Statement and Call to Organize Across Networks
Co-developed in April 2025 by 16 network weavers from across the globe: Abi, Sandra, Luz, June, Fernande, Lopa, Fash, Lana, Brendon, Liz, Adrian, Beverly, Nenad, Nwinaka, Ashish & Francesca (full names at bottom)
We’ve been thinking a lot about the moment we’re in.
Yes — it’s a time of change. Of upheaval. Of visible cracks in the systems we’ve inherited.
It’s marked by disconnection, manipulation, aggression.
By suffering.
And loss of collective wisdom.
For many of us, it can feel daunting and stressful.
Frightening.
Numbing.
But we must also remember: this is not the first such moment.
Many across the world have lived with — and through — crisis.
Pockets of resistance — social movements, indigenous communities, bioregional weaving groups — have persisted and endured.
For a long, long time.

So we come into this space with humility.
Aware that this moment is not new.
But that it may be a chance.
A turning point. ↪️
The moment we’ve been waiting for.
A chance to do something different.
To dream of new possibilities.
To honor and heal our histories.
To radically co-create a new future rooted in equity, interdependence, and…
love. ❤️

We live in a world that hides the work of those at the margins.
That rewards isolation, competition, and scale — over care, reciprocity, and depth.
The result is a deep disconnect.
Across our organizations.
Our networks.
And within ourselves.
But it is by design we are kept apart.
And that is no longer acceptable.
So finally, we’re waking up. 😳
Movements, networks, and communities.
Weavers, organizers, and catalysts.
We who care for the commons.
For coexistence, interbeing, and beauty.

We know that networks are a form of freedom.
A form of power.
A quiet, transformational power that institutions can’t replicate.
That shifts systems.
Through shifting relationships.
And visibility and voice.
But no single network — no matter how brilliant — can change complex systems alone.
As long as we stay fragmented, we will never reach the scale of change we seek.
What’s needed now is connection among networks.
To weave networks into more resilient, more strategic forces for change.
Where cross-network learning is part of our muscle, not an afterthought. 💪🏿
Where information and data is openly shared, not guarded. 📢
Where solidarity is infrastructure, not just words. 🕸️
Why do we need this so badly?
Because it will enable us to…
-
Uncover overlooked breakthroughs that are already working — and make them visible, shareable, and adaptable.
-
Stand together when calling out systemic harm — so no one of us risks isolation or reprisal.
-
Synchronize action when it matters most — rapidly mobilizing millions with agility and collective power.
-
Proliferate spaces for belonging, shared accountability, and disagreement — so we can repair and move forward together.
-
Move from fragmented messaging to shared narratives — and gain legitimacy funders, policymakers, and media can’t ignore.
-
And reduce burnout by sharing the load of emotional and operational labor.

This is our political response.
Not in the partisan sense.
But political in the truest form.
As in how we organize together as humans.
As in: Who is seen. Who decides. Who thrives.
A deliberate choice to build new infrastructure for justice.
To do what most have not yet been willing or able to do.
It is not neutral.
And it is not soft.
It requires boldness.
It’s how we rewrite our broken social contract.
And yes, it is hard work.
But it is the work.

“How can I take part?”
We’re so glad you asked!
Here are some simple, but radical, actions you can take TODAY:
-
🔍 Find a network you don’t know in the Global Networks Atlas or Weaving for Change map — and reach out
-
🤝 Invite another network into your strategic design meetings
-
🎧 Join another network’s event just to listen and learn
-
🧵 Center relationship-building as a core outcome for every space you facilitate — from tactical meetings to days-long retreats
-
📂 Make your network data openly accessible (when possible) for other networks to use
-
📖 Document your network’s story for other networks to learn from
-
📅 Join a learning group with other networks — and actually commit to showing up (follow the Fito Network for regular such opportunities)
-
📣 Promote another network’s event to your own network
-
📝 Apply to a funding opportunity in partnership with another network
-
✨ Offer a “solidarity spark” — something your network does very well — to another network
-
📤 Share this statement with your funders
Make this your goal today: never act alone.
Involve at least one other network leader in everything you do.
So…let’s show up for the future we long to shape.
Admitting that we shape and are shaped by one another.
Yes, when everything feels on fire, now may not feel like the right time.
But this is the fireproofing.
It is only through slowing down and connecting can we sense — and build and respond — together.
Let’s remember that we do have agency.
And let’s play. Joyfully.
Oh so joyfully.
Because joy too is a potent, unwavering act of resistance.
Systems don’t change by accident.
They change when we find each other.
So, take a collective breath.
This is our moment.
We will not let it pass.
Every action ripples.
What will be yours?
